Due to the winter storm and loss of power for several residents in Richmond, The Town Center (203 Bridge St. Richmond, VT) will be open today, Friday, December 23, until 4pm as a warming shelter. The Town Center has power, bathrooms, a microwave, outlets to charge phones, and places to sit and relax. Please stop by if you need some of these services. Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors.

The State is working on opening regional shelters for residents in need of overnight accommodations. We will provide an update on those shelters later today. You can also check this website for more information. We will also provide more information later today about a warming center in Richmond for the day on Saturday, December 24.

A few reminders on safety during this storm:

  • The temperature is expected to drop starting this evening. The State is advising that everyone be off of the roads by 4pm to allow road crews to respond to the freezing temperatures which will cause hazardous travel conditions.
  • Please remember to use alternative heat sources safely. You can find more information on safe heating and other health tips during a power outage at this website.
