Update as of 8:30am, 12/26/25
On the afternoon of Thursday, December 25, a vehicle collided with the fire hydrant at the corner of Jericho Rd. and Burnett Ct., resulting in a major break in the water line that services the hydrant.
Water service was not interrupted to any customers.
Water pressure was maintained throughout the event. There is NO boil water notice. Residents using Richmond Water Services may continue to use water normally.
The water tank continued to refill overnight.
There is a gas line near the break. Vermont Gas is responding this morning to examine the gas line to see if there is any damage.
After Vermont Gas has inspected the gas line, the Highway Department will fill in the hole that was created by the leak.
The Water Resources Department will schedule a contractor to repair the hydrant service line next week.
