Welcome/Public Comment
Consideration of renaming a section of the Rivershore Trail - Denise
Denise presented information about Francis Churchill.
She wants to rename the trail from Cochran Road to Beeken Preserve.
Tyler mentioned putting a boulder or plaque at the beginning of the
trail to honor Francis.
This would involve Getting the signage and changing the name.
Marcia and Tim Waite have volunteered to help with the signage.
Justin and Kelly own the land.
Denise and Molly discussed holding a work party to include friends
and family as a way to honor Francis. Trails Committee will help with
organizing a work party.
Committee mentioned that we do not own the land, but can support
with a letter.
Discussion of plan and funding for repair of culvert on Johnnie Brook
Trail with Greg Western of Cross VT Trail - here are Greg’s proposals:
1.) The agenda item is installing a new culvert on Johnnie Brook Trail
near the entrance of Huntington Rd.
Basically, CVTA can do it this spring if the Town Trails Comm can
help pay for some of the materials.
Materials needed are:
* 20 foot long 12 inch diameter culvert = about $300
* a truck load of gravel = about $600
“I can buy materials and get reimbursed by the Town Trails
Committee, up to whatever amount you are able. Or the Town might
have cheaper sources if it buys directly.” Greg
Motion to spend $900.00 to spend on culvert and gravel. Mike
Donahue made the motion, Hannah seconded it. The committee was in
favor of this motion.
2.) I am also interested to finish what we started talking about last
year, about how we can share efforts on trail maintenance this summer
on Johnnie Brook.
* Do you want to co promote a spring volunteer day to do brushing
and ditch cleaning? Yes
* Did you have any luck getting folks to sign up to take turns on
regular mowing? If yes, then I would like to coordinate with them so we
can split up the summer and take turns doing the mowing on a regular
schedule.
Greg and Ben connected around the Friends of Richmond Trails
concept. Ben will put out on the spread sheet when specific items need to
be addressed.
Greg will also have several work days in Spring/Summer or Fall. We
can coordinate efforts.
3.) And last, I want to keep a bug in your ear about my interest in
talking with the Committee, over time, about future larger needs.
Especially being proactive about flooding.
Greg shared his thoughts on future planning. He wants to plan out in
the future ways to mitigate flooding that has the most damage.
Updates on Village Path properties - Hannah will speak with the
Zoning Administrator
Follow-up on questions from last meeting - map
Approval of Minutes - will complete this at the March meeting
