Updates on Tilden Ave., Bridge St., Huntington Rd., and Cochran Rd Waterline Replacement Project

Planned work for the week of October 5 - 9, 2026

Updated Wednesday, October 7, 2026 – Huntington Rd. Waterline Work Delayed Another Day.

Huntington Road: Waterline work is now planned to begin on Huntington Road on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

  • Work will include excavation and mainline pipe installation.
  • Thompson Road will be closed for the day on Thursday, October 8, starting at 8am at the intersection with Huntington Road.
    • Traffic will be detoured via Farr Road.
  • Starting on Friday, October 9, Huntington Road will be closed to through traffic from the intersection with Farr Road to the intersection with Bridge Street.
    • This closure will occur for the next few weeks from 8am – 5pm.
    • Traffic will be detoured via Farr Road and Thompson Road.
    • Businesses with access from this portion of Huntington Road will be accessible via the access to the parking area closest to Farr Road.
    • Signs stating that businesses are open will accompany the detour signs.
    • Residents with access to their homes from this portion of Huntington Road just need to talk to the flaggers and they will be able to access their properties.

Tilden Ave.

  • No work is anticipated

Bridge St.

  • Road paving
  • Topsoil, driveway, and sidewalk restoration

Cochran Rd.

  • Planned Water Outage and Boil Water Notice Beginning on Monday, October 5, 2026. This boil water notice has been lifted as of 1:15pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
    • A new waterline segment on Cochran Road will be connected to the main system on Monday, October 5, 2026.
    • This will result in a loss of water service for affected properties starting at 8am and potentially lasting until 4pm.
    • A boil water notice for these properties will be in effect for at least 24 hours after water service is restored. This boil water notice has been lifted as of 1:15pm on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
    • Affected properties include:
      • 220 – 388  Cochran Road
  • Road paving
  • Topsoil and driveway restoration

Work will generally be 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The roadways may be reduced to one lane by flaggers at times

No full road closures of more than 5 minutes are expected.

The work and work schedule are subject to change due to weather and other unexpected occurrences.

Notes on disturbances to lawns, driveways, and mailboxes

  • The work will stay within the Town Right of Way and will only be outside of the Right of Way where there is an established easement with the property owner.
  • In many locations the Right of Way extends onto lawns and driveways.
  • There will be disturbance to portions of lawns and driveways located within the right of way. In some cases, mailboxes will have to be removed.
  • The disturbed lawns will be repaired with topsoil and grass seed at the conclusion of the project.
  • Driveways will be restored to pre-project conditions at the conclusion of the project.
  • Mailboxes may be returned to a different location during the project but will be returned to their pre-project locations at the conclusion of the project.
  • The final restoration of lawns, driveways, and mailboxes will occur at the end of the project which will be later this summer.
     

General Project Information

This spring and summer the Town of Richmond is replacing waterlines on Tilden Ave., Bridge St. (from the bridge to the intersection with Cochran Rd.), Cochran Rd. (from the intersection with Bridge St. to the cemetery), and Huntington Rd. (from the intersection with Bridge St. to the Stone Corral).
